How to paint the Bike Squad set

  1. Step 1: Basecoat the Bikes and Space Marines
To begin, apply a smooth and even basecoat of blue paint to both the bikes and the Space Marines riding them. For this, you can use a color like Kantor Blue, which provides good coverage and vibrant color.
  2. Step 2: Paint the Wheels with Black
Using a black paint, such as Abaddon Black, carefully and precisely paint the wheels of the bikes to achieve a clean and contrasting look.
  3. Step 3: Add Grey/Metallic Details
Now, let’s focus on the mechanical details. For engine parts, exhausts, and other metallic elements, use a grey or metallic paint. A great option is Leadbelcher, a Citadel Colour that provides a realistic metallic finish.
  4. Step 4: Shade the Model
To add depth and dimension to the model, apply a shade. Nuln Oil is a popular choice for this step, as it works effectively to enhance the recessed areas and create shadows.
  5. Step 5: Layer the Blue Armor
With the shade dry, it’s time to layer the blue armor to give it more depth and richness. For this, use a lighter blue paint like Altdorf Guard Blue. Apply the paint to the raised areas of the bikes and Space Marines to create highlights and contrast.
  6. Step 6: Paint Eye Lenses
The eye lenses on the Space Marines’ helmets should be striking. Use a bright color like Mephiston Red to paint the lenses, making them stand out on the battlefield.
  7. Step 7: Fine-Tune and Clean Up
Take a moment to fine-tune your paint job, ensuring all the details are neatly painted. Clean up any areas where the paint may have overlapped or gone outside the lines, using a small brush and a steady hand.
  8. Step 8: Varnish and Protect
To protect your hard work and keep the paint job intact, apply a layer of varnish over the painted models. Ardcoat is a gloss varnish that provides a durable protective layer.
